The Metamorphous of Alumbra at Shed 9

Shed 9, Central Pier Docklands is the new home of Alumbra.  The once dusty cargo shed has been transformed into a premium cocktail bar and nightclub that oozes sophistication and style and a crystal clear Martin Audio sound system.

The main space includes specially commissioned glass chandeliers, candy-striped carpets in luscious pink and purple tones, a spectacular transparent illuminated bar and an equally transparent set of six Martin Blackline F15, 15” speakers. Four S18 subs provide ample bass contribution and two F10’s keep the DJs honest. 

In late spring Alumbra will re launch its renowned Gourmet BBQ out on the deck and elsewhere on the menu is a tasty complement of four Martin F15’s, a single S15 subwoofer and F10 for monitors. 

The upstairs mezzanine level called The Privé Lounge offers table service, bottle storage and supper.  There is also an ultra exclusive VIP lounge for 15 people or less, complete with separate entry and buzzer waiter service.  Eight Martin Audio ceiling speakers ensure that the premium areas don’t miss out on the action with seemingly impossibly good audio emanating from speakers mounted in the ceiling cavity.

Design and technical fit out were left in the very capable hands of Nathan Pugh from club specialists, One Productions.  One Productions has a string of very high profile entertainment systems under their bulging belt, places like GPO, Rooftop Cinema, Katuk and now Alumbra.  ‘In all our systems we’re looking to deliver superb audio solutions,’ commented Nathan.  ‘Alumbra is a great case study, it was a very difficult space and required comprehensive simulation but the result really works and management, staff and patrons couldn’t be happier.  Building with the best components always gives us a big headstart and Martin Audios clarity and reproduction impact certainly delivers that for us.’
